Test your farm backup before you need it
Download records and verify the file opens.

Know what an export contains
Download records and verify the file opens. Check that key areas, dates and identifiers are present. Record exports do not automatically include every original photo, video or external service setting.
Protect the copy
Store exports somewhere controlled by the farm and restrict access. Financial, worker and supplier information stays sensitive outside the app. Keep a dated copy away from the device used for daily work.
Practise recovery without overwriting production
Check a sample of records and attachments against the source, and document what restoration would require. An export is not a one-click restore service; never import the whole file into the live farm without checking duplicates and dependencies.
