Why approved timesheets beat estimated wages
Estimating labour as a fixed monthly share hides where people actually worked. Approved timesheets give you labour cost by field and by job.

The problem with dividing wages by 20 days
Many farms split monthly wages evenly across fields. But workers spend weeks on one crop at harvest and almost nothing on it in winter. An even split makes busy fields look cheap and quiet fields look expensive.
Approve hours, then pay
A supervisor records hours against a field or job; a manager approves them. Payroll then uses the approved hours, so the money paid and the labour cost on each field come from the same records and are never counted twice.
