How to cost a field properly
Inputs, labour and machinery: the three costs most farms miss when they work out what one field really cost them this season.

Why a farm-wide total is not enough
A farm can make money overall while one or two fields quietly lose it. Unless costs are recorded against the field that used them, the good fields hide the weak ones and decisions about next season are guesses.
The three costs to capture
Inputs are the easy part: seed, fertiliser and chemicals issued from the store to the field. Labour is harder — approved timesheets tell you who worked where. Machinery is often forgotten entirely: fuel, hours and repairs belong to the fields the tractor worked.
Doing it in AgriLink
When stock is issued to a field operation, approved timesheets name a field, and machinery logs carry a field, the costs land on that field automatically. The crop cycle page then shows cost per hectare and per tonne without a spreadsheet.
